Choosing Well

I was blessed with the ultimate gift of children, and as much as I think it would have been fun to spoil a girl, the dear Lord had the good sense to make me a boy mom.
Our house was filled with noise and food, expectations and honesty. My boys grew up in a place that had no boundaries… we said what needed to be said, talked about everything and loved completely (but sometimes that was realized through cross words and tears). As a result of our parenting style, our boys have become strong-willed, independent thinking men.
That all sounds awesome until you start to consider if there is a woman who can “keep up”.

Today I was supposed to gain a daughter.

Katherine is the ebb to Zach’s flow. She starts a sentence and he finishes… they have the same hopes and dreams and when you spend time with them, you feel like they have already been married for a lifetime.
I don’t know if I’m ever spent time with two souls so in sync.
Quite honestly, I’m in awe that they chose so well and I’m thrilled that she can “keep up” and push him to be the man he deserves to be.

Right now I should be waking up in Greece, ready to celebrate another day in their life as man and wife… but Covid happened and suddenly their plans for the wedding of their dreams were not possible, at least not until next year…

Zach and Katherine, we’re so thankful for the practical decisions and your willingness to do your wedding the way you want, in the time that keeps us all safe. You deserve your day and we can’t wait to celebrate with you.

If the mother of the groom got to choose the wedding theme song, this would be yours… I love you with my whole heart and I’m counting down the days until we can try again.

xoxo
