Cul-De-Sac Crossroads by Mary Spencer Veazey
Hi friend, my name is Mary Spencer (one of those Southern double names).
During the day, you can find me at the happiest little yellow house in the world called Daystar Counseling Ministries where I help fundraise for our kids' counseling nonprofit, but after work I write, write and write!
Over the past two years, I would get home from work each day at 6 pm and write until I fell asleep. All of those thoughts turned into a book called Cul-de-sac Crossroads, a book about navigating your twenties as a Christian with courageous clarity.
My twenties have been harder than I expected - who knew trying to navigate the "real world" would be so hard? How do I find a career that matters to me? Where do I make friends? How do I find a church to call home? Why does prayer even matter?
These questions I've asked myself over and over again. I don't have all the answers, but I talk about in the book where God has led me as I've asked these questions.
I can say with certainty that while this decade of life hasn't been easy, my Savior is so good and I know Him better because of each mountain I've faced.
Throughout the process of writing this book, I've discovered that God is a personal God. He's here in every little moment. What I care about matters to Him. He loves me and He wraps His arms around me during my darkest and hardest moments. He will not forsake me.
Writing can be a lonely process, but I've been so lucky to have friends that have loved me and encouraged me well during this crazy season. I know God is working for my good in all things, even if it's just writing a book.
I think I've also learned through this process what it's like to share the Gospel not only through words but also actions. Unbelievers are looking to see the way Christians treat others, and I think we all need an extra dose of love in this crazy world.
I hope my book will encourage you no matter what decade of life you're in. I hope it will show you that you matter, you're not alone, and you're not here by accident. The Lord loves you and wants a relationship with You, and you get to live in such freedom because of His love.
