Thoughts at the Kitchen Sink ~ Lea Turner
A Blog…
Over a three-year span beginning in 2019, our family experienced death, cancer, losing everything to a house fire, drug addiction, loss of a dream, and undergoing heart surgery. These unexpected struggles transformed my life, leading me through the pages of Scripture to a God who doesn’t shy away from our pain.
As God untangled the lies I believed and replaced them with His truth, a dream began to unfold. He revealed an image of women, just like me, standing at their kitchen sink, and an idea began to unfold to encourage and equip women to live out the gospel in there every day with grace. Because a life set to grace is a life set to rest. As I emerge, I’m excited to write from the place of freedom God unleashed.
From this place of brokenness, God spoke Thoughts at the Kitchen Sink, a blog where real life meets our real God, into my spirit. I envision a community of women who are getting authentic and raw with each other to live out the gospel. I encourage women struggling with unexpected loss and suffering to find hope in a real God so they can live out their God-given purpose
And a Book…
We long to make sense of the suffering. A diagnosis. A death. Traumatic loss. A wandering child. Unending loneliness. Divorce. Unexpected job loss. Unfilled dreams and desires. But what if we didn't try to make sense of it? What if we went beyond asking why and instead saw pain and suffering as an invitation to more of God and allowed ourselves to feel?
In her book, Lea encourages readers to view pain and suffering as an invitation to connect with God rather than a problem to be solved. She shares her own journey of grief, revealing that there is no formula for coping with loss but rather an opportunity to embrace emotions and find comfort in a God who understands.
"The Freedom to Feel" is not a how-to guide on suffering but rather a comforting companion for those who are grieving. The book gently guides readers to embrace their pain with kindness, express their feelings to God, find hope in His promises, and learn to hold space for each other's pain and suffering. This book is for grieving people and those who long to support them better.
